Irish developement squad testing

29 March 2010

evnin all,

Im just home from the national institute of sport where a few of the irish downhillers were put through our paces. After a good warm up we had a series of tests on the "wattbike". these were all geared around the explosive speed you need in downhill. They consisted of a 6 second burst in a low gear, then a 6 sec burst in a high gear, then 200metres in a high gear, then finally the killer, 400 meters in a high gear. now tehy might not seem like big distances, but at 110% of what your capable of the last 400 metre sprint was FEROCIOUS!!!! 1 unnamed individual looked a lot like he was about to die after he finished and subsequently tasted his dinner for the second time that day

said individual!!!!

and im just keepin' 'er chilled before i start warmin' the peddlers

the results arent finalised yet, its all far to complicated for me to understand, but ill be interested to see how i got on anyway. i do remember seeing 1400 watts and 182 cadence at some stagge, but i cant remember when...oh well we'll have to wait and see!!

The first round of the NPS is on this weekend in Cahir, Co. Tipp. check out Irishdh.com for full details, cant wait for it.

keep 'er sideways, Nigel.
