So, the coach asked me to do another road race! (-: So i set out to do the Christy MacManus race in Roundwood, Co.Wicklow!
I was relaxed going in the race, and arrived with just about enough time to get a quick warm up and stick the race number on my back! My Dad drove with me and did the usual helping out! We made a wrong turn on the way to Roundwood, and Dad ended up doing a serious amount of 70km+ rally drving in the Skoda through Wicklow's winding counrty roads.
I'm definetly more in to mountain bike racing! But i know these road races are great traininig.. I still got a good buzz after finishing but its NOT the same buzz as a good mountain bike race (-:
During the race I made it hard for myself and stuck at the front with a few others and we did a good bit of the work, People were roaring at each other for not helping out and they kept drafting us! All in all, it was 2:20 minutes racing, at 188HRAvg, a hard day!!!
Lessons ( Don't do all the work! + learn how to road race properly!)
